SpyPoint FLEX-M Light Patterns: How to Decode

  • 0

Your trail camera uses its internal LEDs to communicate everything from cellular handshake status to critical hardware lockups. Knowing what these light patterns mean helps you diagnose issues instantly without wasting a trip to your hunting spot. SpyPoint FLEX-M Light Patterns are simple to know & easy to follow.

SpyPoint FLEX-M Light Patterns

for SpyPoint FLEX-M Light Patterns Normal Startup vs. Issue Patterns

During a standard boot sequence, the unit cycles Red-Orange-Green before the status LED flashes green while scanning for towers. Once connected, the signal bars light up steady according to local reception:

  • Steady Green: Excellent signal.
  • Steady Orange: Fair signal.
  • Steady Red: Weak signal (transmissions may delay).
  • All Lights Off: Boot complete; camera is armed and ready to trigger.

How to Identify and Fix LED Errors for Flex-M?

  • Flashing Red Signal Lights (No Connection): The camera failed to lock onto a carrier within 5 minutes. Power down the unit, verify the antenna is tightly seated, and move it away from dense canopy or deep drainage bottoms.
  • Flashing Orange Status Light (Low Battery Warning): Voltage dropped below the required startup threshold. Replace all 8 AA batteries at once or fully recharge your LIT-22 pack. Ensure your battery chemistry matches the setting selected in the SPYPOINT app.
  • Immediate Faint Red Flash at Startup (Dead Batteries): If the camera skips the standard boot sequence and blinks red immediately, the cells do not have enough power to cycle the cellular modem.
  • Flashing Green Format LED: When formatting a MicroSD card, the format LED will flash green. If it flashes red or refuses to turn off, the card is either corrupt, unreadable, or incompatible (ensure you are using a Class 10 MicroSD card formatted to FAT32).
  • Rapid Flickering Orange (Firmware Update in Progress): The camera is actively installing an over-the-air firmware patch. Never power off the device while this light is flickering, as interrupting the write sequence can cause a DSP failure (slow blinking green pattern) requiring customer support.
  • Steady Orange Freeze (Transmission Lockup): If the transmission LED stays illuminated for more than 5 minutes without turning off, the modem timed out mid-transfer. Restart the unit and trigger a manual test shot using the onboard button.
