Spypoint Flex problems are like a disease that requires troubleshooting every few days. While you call the customer service, they need your camera to be with you so they can do something. After a year of research, calling Spypoint customer service 100 of times for our Flex cameras, we found the followings.
Spypoint Flex problems are permanent?
A new device in the market always require some time to show it’s capacity. Like that, Spypoint Flex problems were like a glue that tried to stick there for a long time. Instead, they are not permanent if you do some tricks to avoid some well known errors.
- Make sure the Spypoint Flex camera is activated properly with the right barcode with your app
- You can see your device in your app & status showing not connected yet
- Spypoint Flex cameras were designed to connect wirelessly so you need the micro SD card, right batteries & the antenna attached.
- Start the camera & check the light patterns properly.
- If the camera shows Green, Orange or Red blinking in the status while all lights are off, means the signal strength.
- Now check your Spypoint app to confirm the camera is connecting.
- Lastly, wave your hand in-front of the camera to make sure the Spypoint Flex camera is sending that photo back to the app
What’s the main issue then to avoid?
Any Spypoint Flex problems are connected with the right SD card, batteries & the place. To ensure them we always need:
- The micro SD card should be from 2-512 GB Class 10, but we recommend to use the 32 GB to avoid any issues
- Batteries are always crucial part, so make sure to use the Spypoint LIT-22 battery
- The place where the Flex camera will be, should require some space in-front to capture right photo & avoid false triggers.
Why the camera light patterns affect Spypoint Flex problems?
Spypoint Flex cameras should have the exact following light patterns while you start the camera.
- Format & battery light should remain solid and signal lights should be blinking until found everything is right along with Green blinking Status light
- After getting the signal, it will (shows how many bars the strength is) remain solid along with the status light
- The status light will have Green solid along with the Delay light blinking (big bright green in the top) to show the camera is communicating with the server & locking the signal
- After that, all the lights will remain OFF & the camera will be ready for taking new photos
If you see the light patterns are not like this or while all the lights are off after power cycle, please check the app first to ensure the Flex camera is not communicating.
Things to do to fix
First of all, make sure to try another set of batteries & a new micro SD card to power cycle the camera. Sometimes, after adding everything right, the camera antenna was loos to check that too. Also, your place while the camera is should have enough signal from nearby cellular towers. If still you see, the lights are not correct, do a manual firmware update with you laptop/computer.
The last option is to call Spypoint customer service advisors to get any updates available or get the solution quickly before placing the camera outside.
