The Spypoint camera is taking pictures despite no animal, vehicle, or human being passing in front of it, make sure you call Spypoint Support after reading this blog. Also, while there is nothing infront, sometimes its sending the same photo over & over again. One day it send 400 photos & they are all same. So what to do next?
Let’s discuss what are the main reason for this issue before calling Spypoint Support
- There is something on the Fresnel Lens (motion detector) of your Spypoint camera.
- Sun rays moving on the ground may cause false triggers since the camera is triggered by heat motions. If that is so, you need to move the camera ASAP.
- When the sun reflects on the surfaces or some objects (grass, branches, leaves, windows, cars…) it might trigger the unit if it’s in the detection zone because of the heat motion.
- Branches or grass moving with the wind can cause false triggers, specifically if they have been heated by the sun (or if the temperature is warm). The camera & its motion detection was designed to take the photo of every movement.
- Extreme cold temperatures can cause the camera to continually capture photos. We generally see this around the -20C (-4F) temperature range. So if the temperature is that low, make sure you already know this issue.
So what are the very best solution or steps to follow to overcome this issue?
- Ensure the camera is installed properly. Check following points for detailed installation instructions, and things to check on the camera itself. Also you can read other blogs in this website for more information.
- If the problem will continue, get the camera on hand & do a wall test (face the camera to the wall in a very dark room & then wave your hand in-front to make sure if the camera is only taking photos if its getting any movements). If the false triggers stop, this demonstrates that the issue was probably caused by the installation or some unusual movements.
- If false triggers continue despite the wall test, you can try a manual SD card format & then firmware update for your camera.
- If the issue persists despite steps 2 and 3 being completed, don’t hesitate to call or chat with Spypoint Support right away to make sure you can get a new camera.
Enjoy!
