Before heading into the field, you must activate the cellular features of your Spypoint FLEX-M. This ensures your camera can communicate with the mobile network and transmit photos to your phone.
- Download the App: First, install the free SPYPOINT mobile app on your smartphone or tablet from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Create an Account & Log In: Open the app and follow the prompts to create your SPYPOINT account. If you already have an account, log in.
- Activate the Spypoint Flex-M Camera: Within the app, navigate to the activation section. Use your device’s camera to scan the unique QR code located inside the camera’s battery door. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. This pairs the camera’s internal pre-activated SIM card with your account.
- Confirm Connection: Once activated, insert batteries (8 quality AA, or the optional LIT-22 lithium pack) and a pre-formatted Class 10 MicroSD card into the camera. Turn it on at your home location first to verify it connects to the cellular network and transmits a test image.

Installation of your Spypoint FLEX-M
Effective installation is crucial for capturing quality game activity and maximizing battery life.
- Placement Strategy: Position the Spypoint FLEX-M approximately 3–4 feet off the ground (waist-high) for best results with deer-sized game.
- Angle & Orientation: Mount the camera parallel to the ground rather than pointing it down at a steep angle. Crucially, face the camera North or North-East to prevent harsh direct sunlight from causing washed-out images or triggering the PIR motion sensor unnecessarily due to heat changes.
- Clear the View: Ensure branches, tall grass, or brush within the detection zone are trimmed back. Vegetation moving in the wind can cause significant numbers of false triggers.
Regular Use & Features
The Spypoint FLEX-M is designed for intuitive operation and offers advanced features accessible directly through the mobile app, minimizing the need for physical visits to your hunting location. This helps reduce human scent and disturbance.
- Remote Management: You can change nearly all settings remotely via the SPYPOINT app, including photo resolution, delay times, and detection sensitivity.
- Optimizing Transmission: To maximize battery life, adjust the transfer frequency in the app settings. Using “Batch” mode (2–6 syncs daily) instead of “Instant” transmission significantly conserves power while still providing regular updates.
- AI Sorting: The app utilizes BUCK TRACKER™ AI to automatically categorize photos. You can filter images by species (buck, doe, turkey, predator, or human), allowing you to quickly review only the activity you care about, which is especially useful when checking hundreds of photos.
